President's Day, Circus and Itsy Bitsy Spider

President's Day
Yes, we had school on President's Day.  It was a fun day learning about President Lincoln.  We created a cool Lincoln craft where the students have to brainstorm and write what they would be hiding under their hat.  They turned out really cute :)

Circus Week
We loved circus week!  We had a tent across our book center and the kids loved practicing juggling, balancing and playing fun circus games.  We played a beanbag clown toss!  We made clowns, colored elephants with pastel crayons and painted with balloons.  We sorted our -an, -at and -en words with popcorn.  We ripped tickets in our sensory tub and also scooped popcorn kernels which made a really big mess!!!

This was our clown that each kid added a different aspect of their face.
It turned out so funny!  Do you like his freckles?? LOL

Below were our clowns.  Their hand is made out of each student's hands.  They added a nose, drew eyes and a mouth and used bingo dotters to make their hats.  I forgot how much the kids LOVE bingo dotters!  They are so fun to bang around :)

We used pastel crayons to color our circus elephants.  Pastel crayons are so fun because after you color, you can smear them around.  We got pretttyyyy messy!!

WE PAINTED WITH BALLOONS!!

In our alphabet center we labeled our circus pictures and had to figure out the initial sound of each picture!  We did fantastic :)

In our math center we had to cut out our popcorn kernel numbers, count the pictures and match the number to the pictures!

Our sight word group is working on rhyming words and word families.  We wrapped up our first three units by sorting -an, -en and -in words.  We had to match our popcorn words to the containers!

OUR BULLETIN BOARD WON THE MONTLY CONTEST!  We took picures of each of the kiddoes and made them hold hands in the shape of a heart!

Itsy Bitsy Spider
My assistant teacher plans the curriculum in the afternoon based on a nursery rhyme since I leave at 1:00 to play with my baby in the afternoons! :) This week was the Itsy Bitsy Spider.  We did a cute activity where they got to pick what color they would be if they were a spider and we painted our hands that color!  Can you say adorable...

Have a great weekend,
:) Danielle
