Dinosaurs!!!!

Dinosaur Week

For some reason Dinosaur week is my favorite week of the whole year.  I get so jazzed up about it!  Partly because there are so many cute and fun projects to do but you can create cool sensory tables and dramatic play and the kids love it!  In art we painted lava on our volcanoes!  They turned out really funny and cute :) You can see some of them below!

We also made a T-Rex mouth with teeth in art!  They were very scary but unfortunately I do not have a picture of that!  We also made our own dinosaurs by adding spikes, feathers, polka dots  and funny colors!

Dinosaurs were "hatching" in our blue sensory tub out of colorful eggs!  The baby dinosaurs were so cute and such a great fine motor/math activity to match the colors and open and close the eggs
Miss Cindy loved playing with our homemade play dough!  It smelled like pearberries and had a nice sparkle!  The kids created dinosaur caves and stamped their feet in them to make dinosaur tracks!  I think she had more fun than the kids did!
This week we worked on the letter Dd for Dinosaur.  Below was a fun worksheet (I can't remember where I got it) but they had to color in capital and lowercase Dd's.  This is still a skill we are working on a lot!  We sometimes struggle with but they did great :)

We used our dinosaur alphabet letters to spell our names!

This was our really fun sensory tub!  The sand is really brown sugar so it smelled so great!!!!  The other pieces are dinosaur "bones" and small dinosaurs.  This was one of our favorite activities in the whole week.  The sugar actually hardened into little brown sugar "rocks"!  It was really neat.

We also counted and sorted dinosaur bones in math, completed a paleontologist puzzle by sorting numbers 0-10 and played a dinosaur memory game.  What was probably more fun for the kids was the fact that we have a little leprechaun in our room (yes, already :)).  I missed out on doing fun activities with the elf over Christmas because I was on maternity leave, so this was my chance.  So far the leprechaun has mixed up the numbers on our calendar, painted on our paper towel dispenser and messed up the art center by adding everything that is green and even some balloons!  On Monday he painted rainbows on our bathroom mirrors and planted gold coins around the room!  He's so tricky!  He'll be up for more shenanigans next week! :)

We had a great week!
Have a great Weekend,
Danielle
