Summer

Hi Everyone!

We have had a crazy summer so far at SpringRose and we are loving every minute.  I do apologize for not updating our blog for a little bit.  We have a hectic May with graduation and the summer is slipping by!

All my photos this summer have the kids faces in them so I can't share them! :(

SpringRose babies are growing up!  These littles were all born within 6 weeks of each other and all have mommies as teachers at the daycare.  Ethan (middle) is my little guy! :)

HIGHLIGHTS FROM THE SUMMER SO FAR!

OH MY GOODNESS WE LOVE WATER DAYS!  We all change into our super cute bathing suits and go out and play in the water.  Most of us like to get VERY wet.  Miss Ashley and myself planned a fun messy day for the kids!  They threw mud at each other, painted their bodies and sprayed colored water at each other.

We had a FANTASTIC visit from the sheriff's department.  They brought their K9 deputies with them and did a demonstration.  It was super cool to see the dogs and learn all about them!

Lehigh Valley Zoo Visit

The zoo came to visit and brought us some neat friends to look at.  They brought a scorpion and we learned that it glows in the dark!

This GIANT Lizard was so cute!  We even got to pet him :)

We LOVED our sports camp and princess camp at the beginning of the summer. We learned new skills and had lots of fun!

We are so super excited to have Miss Vanessa back on Monday from maternity leave!  She's bringing baby Aurora to school too so we'll get lots of snuggle time!

EASTER IDEAS!

Welcome Spring Week!

This week was Spring Week!

 

On Monday we started our week by having a lemon/lemonade day!! We painted with lemons, squeezed lemons to make lemonade, wrote lemonade recipes and played our lemonade stand dramatic play!

 

 

 

 

WE MADE LEMONADE!  We had a taste test as well...you can see the graph below to see who LIKED/DIDN'T LIKE our lemonade!

 

 

 

We completed lemon observation sheets and weighed/graphed lemons...

 

 

We even cut open lemons and added lemon juice and lemonade Kool-Aid to our water table!  It smelled so good, we used it for a couple days!!!

 

 

 

We finished our journal entry from last week and drew our rainbows...

 

 

 

To continue our lemon unit, we even recognized numbers and counted that many lemon-yellow

pom poms to put on our lemon trees.

 

 

 

We also used our journals to draw our own chicks and write the word "chick" !

 

 

 

On Tuesday we made shredded paper birds nests in art! :) So cute!!!

We are doing a lot of fine motor skills so this activity we had to cute the big yellow circle and two smaller white circles to make the body and eyes of the chick!

 

 

DISSOLVING PEEP EXPERIMENT!

That's right...those cute little sugar peeps!...We picked five different liquids and hypothesized what would dissolve the peeps the fastest!  We even smelled the vinegar and they thought it was GROSS!

Our Laundry Detergent peep was almost completely dissolved by Friday!!!!

Flower Observations!

Petals on Penn has been gracious enough to bring us flowers every couple of weeks for science exploration!  Thanks Susan!

Yumm...Jelly Bean sorting!

 

 

We worked SUPER hard on our numbers this week!  We counted the number of spring objects on the left and traced the number on the right.  We also discussed the difference between a letter S and a number 5, since sometimes we will write a number s instead of writing a 5!

 

 

We used our Alphabet bugs to match our capital and lowercase letters!

 

 

Miss Vanessa's husband, Dan found us a cool bird's nest, which we observed and drew in our journals!!!

 

 

PEEPS!  We even painted with them...

 

 

 

We even counted numbers on peeps and placed the correct number of beans on each numbered peep!

 

 

 

We even cut straws in the sensory tub!!  We had so much fun :)

St. Patrick's Day

 

Happy St. Patrick's Day!

 

We celebrated by having a fun-filled St. Patrick's Day week by talking about leprechauns, rainbows, gold coins and everything GREEN!

 

We had several St. Patrick's Day sensory tubs.

 

This one was especially my favorite!! Green split peas, gold coins, glittery leprechaun hats and pots of gold!

 

 

One of our math centers was to recognize the number and count that number of coins to put on the number!

 

 

 

 

This week we also worked on the letter Xx.  We traced and wrote our own Xx's, searched and found Xx's on our paper and as a whole group on the white board! 

 

 

 

 

One of our art projects was to make leprechaun faces! They turned out so cute with their funny beards and faces! :)

 

 

We even finger painted rainbows and talked about what colors make up a rainbow in what order.  Later in the week, we drew our own rainbows in our journals...

 

 

We used heart cookie cutters to make 4 Leaf clovers.  We then took a q-tip and messed up the lines and added green glitter to add shine and a stem of course!!! 

 

 

 

 

We used green poms poms for counting!

 

 

We reused our pink rice table from Dr. Seuss week and added some colorful pom poms and a scoop of every color to make it look like a RAINBOW!

 

 

Our Blue sensory bin held A LOT of gold coins and pots.  I added some glass baby food jars and each of the student's names on a green sentence strip.

 

 

This was our mint scented water table with green glitter, green plastic builders, ice cube trays and green Easter eggs!  I had every intention of changing this later in the week but they loved it so much!!

 

 

Our Rainbow Rain sticks made out of water bottles...

 

 

On PJ Day we wore our comfy pj's, slippers and watched the movie, Wreck it Ralph with the preschool room and enjoyed a large bowl of POPCORN!  We love special days like this :)

 

 

Uh Oh...

WHAT A MESS!

 

The leprechaun messed up our room while we were playing Duck, Duck, Goose in the big room!

 

 

He even flipped some of the tables and put the chairs on top! 

 

 

 

The funniest part was the bathrooms...there was toilet paper EVERYWHERE!  The leprechaun even died the toilet water green!!

 

 

We had such a fun week!  We also wrote and traced our names with color changing markers, laced colanders with pipe cleaners and even graphed Lucky Charms!
